Marianela Vega Oroza (Perú/Peru)
Cineasta, docente y archivista peruana, residente en Madrid. Ha dirigido siete cortos y dos largometrajes, exhibidos alrededor del mundo - Conversaciones II con 8 premios internacionales-. Se aproxima al cine con un lenguaje íntimo y construye relatos que exploran la familia, la memoria y la identidad a través de dinámicas de producción alternativas. En el 2007 fue seleccionada como artista del mes por el CCCB (Barcelona, España) Muestra Individual “Un mes, un artista” Y en el 2024, el Festival Corriente No Ficción (Arequipa, Perú) dedicó un foco a su obra.
Su segundo largometraje, El archivo bastardo (2024), ha recibido el Premio a Mejor Película Documental de la Asociación de Prensa Cinematográfica Peruana APRECI. Su formación incluye un MFA in Film Production en The University of Texas at Austin, un Máster en Archivo de la Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola y es alumni del American Film Showcase.
Tiene 14 años de experiencia como docente cinematográfica en diversas universidades peruanas y actualmete es co-directora del Máster Internacional en Cine Documental del Instituto del Cine Madrid. Como mediadora, ha realizado laboratorios cinematográficos en centros juveniles de rehabilitación, incluyendo un proyecto financiado por el Prince Claus Fund: Desde Adentro, relatos audiovisuales desde subjetividades femeninas. Recientemente desarrolla, junto a Diana Castro, el proyecto “Abrir el archivo” en el marco de la residencia Notar dirigida por la asocición Hablar en Arte y la Fundación Nina Carasso, en Madrid.
Peruvian filmmaker, teacher, and archivist, based in Madrid. She has directed seven short films and two feature films, screened worldwide—Conversations II, which won eight international awards. She approaches cinema with an intimate language and constructs narratives that explore family, memory, and identity through alternative production methods. In 2007, she was selected as artist of the month by the CCCB (Barcelona, Spain) for the solo exhibition “One Month, One Artist.” In 2024, the Corriente No Ficción Festival (Arequipa, Peru) featured her work.
Her second feature film, The Bastard Archive (2024), received the Best Documentary Film Award from the Peruvian Film Critics Association (APRECI). Her training includes an MFA in Film Production from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s degree in Archival Studies from the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, and she is an alumna of the American Film Showcase.
She has 14 years of experience teaching film at various Peruvian universities and is currently co-director of the International Master’s Program in Documentary Film at the Madrid Film Institute. As a facilitator, she has conducted film workshops in youth rehabilitation centers, including a project funded by the Prince Claus Fund: From Within, audiovisual narratives from female subjectivities. She recently developed, with Diana Castro, the project “Opening the Archive” as part of the Notar residency, directed by the Hablar en Arte association and the Nina Carasso Foundation, in Madrid.
